There are countless slicers on the market for additive manufacturing – accordingly, it can be difficult to know each one in detail. But some stand out from the rest. For example, you may have already heard of the 3D printing manufacturer Craftbot – formerly CraftUnique. The developer of 3D solutions, which was founded in Budapest in 2014, offers its very own slicer, CraftWare Pro.

With CraftWare Pro, the company has created something that is not just suitable for experts, but also advanced users and beginners and has been designed for use with FDM technologies. Moreover, the slicer is divided into Standard, Premium and Premium Enterprise packages, which offer different application options in addition to cost factors. We took a closer look at the software to teach you about how it works, its various applications and why it has become so popular only a short while after being launched on the market.

Characteristics of CraftWare PRO

The benefits that users experience thanks to CraftWare Pro are clear: thanks to the automatic presets, beginners in particular can benefit from an uncomplicated and easy-to-use workflow, while intelligent functions allow them to increase efficiency. In addition, the CAD functions help to modify as well as personalize objects, so that optimizations can also be achieved in the area of print preparations. With CraftWare Pro, you can also benefit from smart solutions for IDEX printing.

The different slicing modes – smart, easy or expert – allow you to adjust them according to your individual needs and also make use of the multi-layer contractions, which enable you to slice different areas within an object with different parameters. The result of this not only saves you time and money, but also ensures a more efficient use of the filament. Furthermore, CraftWare Pro Slicer offers you a function to use different settings that can be used with different sized nozzles. This can be the case with IDEX printers, for example. Thanks to the slicer, heterogeneous prints can therefore be given.

Another highlight of CraftWare Pro is the multi-tray function. This enables you as a user to create several 3D printers in the profile and manage them individually. Here you can view the individual slicing parameters of a tray and also change them if necessary. Speaking of multi-functions, it is also important to add that CraftWare Pro Slicer is also equipped with a multiple printing strategy. Specifically, this means that 3D models with different shapes and sizes can be placed on the same tray and sliced with different slicing settings. Last but not least, it should be mentioned that the slicing software also has a CAD function, thus enabling the user to design or even personalize simple objects quite simply.

A Slicer for Beginners and Experts

Craftbot states that CraftWare Pro is a slicer suitable for beginners, advanced users and experts. Thus, Craftbot covers a wide range of potential users. Specifically, beginners, for example, can benefit from the easy-to-use slicer that they can personalize with just a few settings and clicks. For advanced users, CraftWare Pro is particularly exciting, as the print optimization helps to achieve better print qualities and higher efficiency, especially thanks to the innovative settings. Ultimately, experts can use the software especially for the minimized cost and time factors.

However, CraftWare Pro also differs in the different subscription options. Let’s start with the so-called standard version of the slicer. This is free of charge and available to everyone, but it still includes the full slicer functions. The next level is the Premium version, which is available for as little as $9.99 for 30 days or $99.99 for a year after completing the required registration. Are you an individual or do you have a small business or non-profit organization or educational institution? Then Premium is perfectly made for you. In addition to the slicer features, there are also productivity features. These include, for example, reduced printing times, shorter preparation times, or even a lower number of manual interventions, while still allowing you to use up to 3 different devices with it.

Finally, Craftbot offers the Premium Enterprise version. This is – as the name suggests – intended for businesses, although it must be added here that these companies must have a net annual revenue of the previous fiscal year of $100,000 or more. Although you can use up to 10 different devices in the Premium Enterprise version, you also pay more than in the Premium version: here it is $49.99 for 30 days and you have to pay $499.99 for a year.

As for the compatibility of CraftWare Pro, this slicer is usable with Windows, macOS, LINUS and CHROME OS. However, when using Windows, make sure you have an operating system of Windows Vista x64 or higher; Craftbot recommends Windows 10 x64. Mac users should use High Sierra (10.13.) or higher; Catalina (10.15.) is recommended. When using LINUX, however, this is already easier, because here any Linux distributions can be used.
